130403 Tenterground

Rosecraddock Mill with tenterground, and bridge over the River Seaton.

The tenterground is the platt between the miller’s house  and the river, at least that’s my assertion.

It is merely a matter of conjecture that the pannus de Grysanto which Alice of Miriefeld was carrying before she was drowned in the Seaton was fulled and stretched at the mill and on the tenterground at this site sometime in the very late thirteenth century.
