130217 In and out of the Domesday Book

On the east bank of the Fowey, St Winnow is in the Domesday Book as San Winnuc. It’s in the Hundred of Fawton and at the time of the conquest the local Lord was the Bishop of Exeter St Peter, by 1086 the Lord was Godfrey with the Bishop of Exeter St Peter as his Tenant in Chief.

Back then the place had 30 sheep, and I don’t suppose horse/beef burgers had been invented. Damien Trench might know.
