And this is Park Pit which I once called Widmer Pool on account of its being just a couple of shades too blue and somewhat showy.

Over on IKBA.co.uk Mark O’Bea caught the Anthony Powell reference and suggested “ A Dance To The Music Of Bridges” which has become one of Bridge Club’s alternative titles.

Thanks Mark.

Poussin’s painting The Dance To The Music Of Time is in the Wallace Collection in Manchester Square, back in the nineteen-canteens when I was a louche young despatch rider there was often a lovely Velocette Venom parked outside the Wallace Collection.

The Wallace Collection also houses Sir Edwin Landseer’s “The Arab Tent”, another inspiration for the way we live now.

  1. The Wallace is one of the greatest collections. I often dropped into Hertford House in my London flâneur days to marvel at the art. Thanks for the memory jogger. The townhouse itself is also rather fine. Oh, and Rufus is looking rather fine too; you’re obviously having f-u-n.
